Laws change
The rules for CSR, NGOs, tax, foreign contributions and data protection change often. Each article reflects the law as understood when it was written or last updated, which is shown on the article. For example, the Income-tax Act, 2025 replaced the Income-tax Act, 1961 from 1 April 2026, so older articles may use the earlier section numbers, such as 12A and 80G.
Proposed laws, such as the changes in the Corporate Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2026, are discussed as proposals. They do not apply until they are enacted and brought into force.
